eXerK 52in52 story: This weekend’s 100k cycle to Streatley-on-Thames reminded me what a pleasure it is to cycle outside of London. Our Sunday 9am departure meant that cars were few and far between and, with the added bonuses of dry weather and a route free of traffic lights, it was a far cry from my usual city commutes.
As you may have read in my January wrap up, I had some work to do to learn to keep warm…so…I donned ski gloves, ski socks, Castelli toe overshoes, a Buff neckwarmer, long leggings, padded shorts, an Underarmour long sleeved top, my shortsleeved cycling top and a high vis wind proof jacket. Enough? Yes! It worked a treat – it was only when I dismounted at the end of the ride that I realised how freezing the day was, whilst I was toasty in my gear.
